Welcome to the home page of the National Alliance on Mental Illness--Hampton/Newport News affiliate!
Home Page
NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.  NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, supports, and research and is steadfast in its commitment to raise awareness and build a community of hope for all of those in need.

NAMI Hampton/Newport News is an affiliate of NAMI Virginia.  We work in our local communities of Hampton and Newport News to raise awareness and provide advocacy, and essential education and support group programs.  We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Nearly 60 million Americans experience a mental health condition every year.  Regardless of race, age, religion, or economic status, mental illness impacts the lives of at least one in four adults and one in ten children across the United States.  People living with mental illness need help and hope; they need a community that supports them, their families, and their recovery.

The mission of NAMI Hampton/Newport News is to improve the quality of life for persons affected with biologically based brain disorders through education, advocacy, and support.

We are located on the Hampton Roads Peninsula in Southeastern Virginia.
Open Monthly Meetings are held on the second Monday of every month.  These meetings are open to anyone who would like to attend.  We have a guest speaker each month and refreshments are served.  Please check our Calendar of Events page for information on the guest speaker for each month.

The meetings are held from 6:00-7:30 PM at the Hampton/Newport News Community Services Board.
